Mockingjay Pillow- PATTERN!

Hello all!! So, this is my first attempt at making a pattern/chart, and it's for this lovely thing!!

Yes, isn't it pretty?  It's a lovely 16" wide pillow with the Mockingjay pin on one side (from The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins) and "If we burn, you burn with us" which is SPOILER ALERT: A quote from one of the propos Katniss makes in Mockingjay.  If you would like to make one of these nifty things, pull out some knitting needles and yarn and we'll get started!

Things may be worded oddly, so if you have any questions feel free to comment and I'll answer ASAP.

YOU WILL NEED:
One pair of size 7 needles (I used circulars)
About 300 yards gold worsted weight yarn (I used one skein of I Love This Yarn! in Sungold)
About 300 yards black worsted weight yarn (I used one skein of I Love This Yarn! in Black)
A 16" pillow form
A yarn needle (for sewing)
Charts
Note on the charts: It's not shown, but there is a border of 13 sts on either side in the background color.

Guage: 5 stitches X 7 rows= 1" square

Side One- Mockingjay
CO 80 sts in black
Work 13 Rows in st st.
Work first chart, with the yellow squares as gold yarn and white squares as black yarn.
Work 13 rows st st.
Cast off.

Side Two- Quote
CO 80 sts in gold.
Work 13 rows in st st.
Work second chart, with white squares as gold yarn and yellow squares as black yarn.
Work 13 rows in st st.

Sew side one and side two together on three sides, stuff with pillow form, and sew up final side.
TA DA!  There you have it!  A pillow to show your mockingjay pride.  Down with the Capitol!

  1. Quick question, did you use intarsia or fair isle for this? If you used intarsia, how many actual balls of yarn did you use?
